April Ross

April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. Ross is among a few female players of beach volleyball that be able to do so. In Tokyo during the next few days she will attempt to win her third gold medal with fellow first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic gold medal. Perhaps she has one chance at winning, as she's 39 old. However, she's convinced that top prizes are in reach. Ross was mentioned on NBC Boston as saying that when you perform at your very top, even if you do well, we'll get the gold. That's why I'm taking a little bit of luck too. Ross was born in the city of Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents and sister resided there. The athletic pursuits she pursued was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she participated in several different sports. As a prep-athlete, she also played indoor volleyball and track. She was definitely a cut above the rest in the latter sport. When she played in her college volleyball season, according to her college profile, she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. She was awarded the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. Her skills in volleyball brought her an Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in the year 2000. Although Ross and Klineman have been doing their thing since 2017, the former was already a big-time athlete on the beach long before their pairing. In reality, she was a winner of numerous major events in the past with two different partners. among them the volleyball legend. In the period 2007 to 2013 she teamed alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be strong on the world circuit, winning the world championship in 2009 with each other. The duo took silver in London's Olympics. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the legend team who was the winners of the 2012 Olympics in London, edged each other to take home the gold medal. Ross Jennings was the replacement for May-Treanor as she announced her retirement. They won the bronze medal in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a student athlete for USC Trojans before her pro career. She was a player in high school, as well as some years before she hit the beach professionally. The Trojans had a great career for Ross in the college level. In 2000, she was named Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman Of The Year, and was also an All-American. In addition, she helped her Trojans get to the Final Four. She was devastated by a personal tragedy during her second year, but she was able to make it an All-American in her second year. In her last two seasons in the program she led the Trojans up to the summit netting successive national titles. Ross was an excellent volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the top female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross studied International Relations at USC. Margie Ross didn't get to witness Ross achieve beach volleyball's top stage. Ross's mother passed away from breast cancer when she was a sophomore in USC. Ross holds her mother close to her heart. Margie at the beach as well as in her everyday life, inspires her.
